It’s only a matter of time.
Eventually you’ll have to sit through a speech about marketing, or business development, or user experience, or (god forbid) social media. The problem is that the speech will go one of 3 ways.
- Crappy – Let’s be honest, a LOT of speeches suck. Whether they are boring, inconsequential, off-point, or just crappy, there are a lot of speeches out there that are going to suck and drive attendees away from your next event like vegans from a Chik-fil-A.
- “Meh” – It didn’t suck and it filled the appropriate time-slot, but who cares. Hooray, your speaker stayed on topic and your audience is still asleep.
- Awesome – Then there are your great speeches. You know them when you see them and those are the speeches people talk about after, that drive up traffic to your page and/or event.
I’ll let you decide which type you want. The only issue now is finding a speaker that fits that bill.

What I Speak About
I try to find topics that will resonate with whatever audience I am speaking to, but they all come from my personality and delivery style. The aren’t for everyone, but the message is clear and the points are applicable.

What strategies can you put in place and what mindset can you have that will make sure what you’re putting out there doesn’t make your audience sad to be alive?
